Roughly 60% of your body weight is made up by water. Water washes toxins from organs such as the liver and kidneys. It cools and lubricates, and is an essential component in the blood. Every day we lose water when we breathe, sweat, urinate and have bowel movements. That water needs to be replenished in order for our body to function at it’s peak performance.

So how much should you drink? A good rule of thumb is to drink enough liquid so your urine is colorless and odorless.

What should you drink? Any liquid counts as does juicy fruits and vegetables such as oranges, watermelon, cucumbers and lettuce.

Don’t like drinking plain water? Try a fresh idea:

  • Add a slice of lemon
  • Stir in fresh mint leaves
  • Add an herbal tea bag
  • Stir in a teaspoon of honey
  • Add a few chunks of watermelon, cucumber or pineapple
